Have you been trying to think of a lobby aesthetic that is pleasing for guests? You’re not alone, as the lobby is a place where you have the chance to make the first impression to anyone who walks through the door. The entrance mat can do the greeting for you, but you need to be able to entice people to stay.

Fast Company Design reports the way people rely on their cell phones is playing a role in how lobbies are designed going forward. They need soft lighting, can be multifunctional, allowing for people to get work done or simply relax for a bit while they wait. The news provider reports that many lobbies are finding themselves being split between creating space to relax and also setting aside an area for work.

This is a trend that has really taken off in the hotel industry. According to the Washington Post, hotels have been redesigning their lobbies so guests will feel comfortable working there and not being cooped up in their rooms. This is particularly helpful when a room isn’t ready or a guest needed to check out before their flight. They can sit and relax or choose to catch up on work in their downtime.
